Previous Session: 18 There and Back Again || Next Session: 20 The Final Session
Medora is super upset about this whole thing, and asks us to basically storm the estate. Casts is perfectly happy to let her create a distraction while he sneaks in.
On the way back, someone clears their throat, and Teromeda Theoseus is standing behind us.
She gives us several options, and suggests we grab a whole bunch of allies. Medora's not super happy with the plan because she wants revenge immediately, but we decide to go back to Orsinium and ask the Orcs for their aid in vanquishing Lord Woodborne.
Challenge
Everyone makes a Survival Check Everyone succeeds.
We arrive back in Orsinium just in time to catch the festival, and Kihra decides to ... take in the sights.
Skill Use
Kihra goes out to pick some pockets (Security) and picks a lot of pockets. + 5 gold
Terfir Lif goes to talk to Gortwog Gro-Nagorm and tries to convince him to help essentially invade Wayrest. He's hesitant, but Terfir says she thinks that she can make that situation better. He's not convinced, but she plans to try again at dinner (while wearing her magical dress).
We attend the festival and have a generally good time watching the competetion, and Terfir manages to convince him that she's capable of ensuring that Wayrest doesn't retaliate.
He says that he'll gather troops and wait in the Nightgulch Woods for the signal. He also marks the location of the estate on our maps. What a nice guy.
We take our rest here.

We arrive back in Wayrest right when Princess Morgiah's wedding is getting ready to start. We discover that we're all on the guest list, save of course for Medora.
Skill Use
Kihra tries to find a name that's not being used. (Perception) Success! She spots a Cylana
With a name in hand, we have access to the castle, and we quickly see Morgiah with King Reman Karoodil. Likewise Prince Helseth is present in the room.
Terfir heads up to have a chat with Morgiah. Terfir basically tells Morgiah that Woodborn killed Lysandus, and gains her assistance in making sure that there aren't any political repercussions.
Likewise, Morgiah suggests that perhaps that Terfir can marry Helseth.
With that taken care of, we head to the woods to meet up with the Orcs.
We meet up with the orcs in the woods, which includes Gortwog Gro-Nagorm. A Storm rolls in (which is likely Nulfalga's doing), and we are able to get up to the estate without too much issue under the cover of it.
The plan is generally to get Terfir and Leanne to the gates so that Terfir can destroy the door, while Casts and Kihra sneak in the servant's quarters.
The assault begins with a rain of arrows raining down on the assault team.
Skill Use
Leanne uses Block to block the arrows.
At the back side, Kihra and Casts head through the building and attempt to make it to Woodborn:
Skill Use
Kihra picks the lock to the backdoor. Kihra and Casts use Perception to hear that Elysana and possibly Woodborn are on the 3rd floor. Kihra and Casts use Sneak x2 to get up to the 3rd floor.
Back at the front, Leanne and Terfir are busting down the front door. Leanne's giant eagle is causing a fun amount of damage. Terfir decides to use some Destruction to destroy them.
Inside, Kihra and Casts have tailed the guard up to the third floor, and he stops in front of a particular door.
Skill Use
Casts uses Sneak to kill the guard. Kihra uses Security to get into the room.
We see that the room is a bedroom and inside it is Princess Elysana. We start to question her, and she claims to have no knowledge of Lysandus's death.
Skill Use
Casts makes a Perception check
Casts can tell that she's lying through her teeth. As she starts to compose herself, she lets slip that she hired the pirates and that we were supposed to never make it back.
Cutting back to the others, they're making strong progress getting into the building, and the guards on their last legs.
Skill Use
Leanne does some stabbing. Terfir does some punching?
Back upstairs, Casts tries to knock her out.
Challenge
Knock Elysana out! (Athletics) - Success!
After this, Woodborne attacks, and we have to subdue him!
Fight
Woodborn attacks Casts who uses Shield to defend (Alteration) - Success Kihra Punches Woodborne - Success Casts uses Fortify to up Kihra's hand-to-hand Woodborn attacks again, same defense - Success Kihra finishes knocking him out.
After the rest of the group gets up there, Medora takes out her anger on Woodborn and we arrange him for Elysana to find.
Leanne goes and find Woodborn's room and finds a journal with the following in it.
...from childhood. I know that Gothryd would not refuse his aid, but I must bide my time to ask. After all, Elysana is still heiress of Wayrest and I am her bethrothed. So it should be that when Eadwyre dies (which he is bound to do, sooner rather than later) I will be king.
If it weren't for that bitch queen and her brats, I would and could be patient. Never trust a dark elf the old saying goes, for you cannot read truth in their eyes. If Barenziah has her way, Helseth will be heir and Elysana will be married off to some far- off kingdom. Morgiah is already promised to the heir of Firsthold, but they keep her around to spread the poison against Elysana, and especially, me.
Barenziah doesn't trust me, this I can tell. I will deal with her just as I did with Lysandus. The fool should have agreed to support me. Gortwog and his orcs almost saved him. I'll deal with those sub-humans once I sit upon the throne of Wayrest.
First it is important to solidify my power base. I can (almost certainly) rely on Gothryd to support my bid for the throne, if Helseth is made heir. I have a spy network equalling Eadwyre, Gothryd, Akorith-i, or the Emperor. Perhaps the Necromancers and the Underking's networks are more extensive, but I doubt it. The problem is raw physical power. I do not have a standing army. I need the gold to raise...
We cart Elysana back to Wayrest, and we roll her right up to the castle (but send Terfir in to ask Morgiah what they want to do). Morgiah suggests that we just lock her in the brig until the wedding is done, and then we'll figure out what to do with her.
The group confers, weighs the risks to themselves, annnnd decides to allow her to just sit in the brig.
We attend the wedding, and there we hear a rumor that the The King of Firsthold's was able to talk to his dead son (because of her deal with Mannamarco King of Worms).
